Welcome to the Bryn Terfel Foundation
The thought of starting a foundation was initially triggered by hearing the tales of some very talented singers leaving their colleges with huge student debts which must take years to manage and subsequently clear. It is hard to comprehend how one could concentrate whole heartedly on beginning a career with all the new debut roles and opera houses and concert venues with monetary worries always in the back of ones mind. I thought how wonderful it would be to be given a financial award for your hard work and dedication at the beginning of your career where you can use it positively. I remember how enthused and excited I was when Capitol Radio gave me an award which involved some money. It helped pay for scores, a dinner jacket, the final year on the Opera Course, and pay off some student accommodation debts.
